Just the Facts: You have 7 days to take a photo inspired by a photographer.
Note: this is NOT “Inspired By A Famous Photographer” (we’ve done that one before). Of course, you CAN choose a famous photographer, but you can also be inspired by any photographer whose work moves you.
Being inspired isn’t the same as a 1:1 copy – far from it. It’s about learning and picking up certain aspects and nuances from a fellow photographer. Maybe it’s their tones and color palette, or a particular technique that made a shot stick in your memory. Maybe it’s how they handle light, or their compositional style, or even just the way they see the world. The point is to study what makes their work click, and then apply that thinking to your own shot.
Photographers who inspire us aren’t locked into particular genres, and neither should you be – architecture, portraiture, street, documentary, nature, abstract, surreal – look at what appeals to you. We’re a global community and we’d love to see your take on photographers from all parts of the world, not just the Western Hemisphere. Still not sure whose work you’d like to pay tribute to? Use our friendly random prompter to help you out with some well-admired photographers and the genres they’re best known for.
I let the random prompter choose and found Yann Arthur Bertrand an aerial photographer. The featured image is the one i used. Here are a couple i considered below.
