From 52Frames.com: You have 7 days to compose a photo using the Rule of Thirds. (EC: Symmetrical Composition.)
The Rule of Thirds is probably the first composition technique you’ll learn in photography. It’s simple, versatile, and effective. Also not a rule, I’d say. More of a guideline. Hey, it teaches you that there’s a thing called composition, and it’s a great start, so that’s why we tend to have this challenge near the top.
Picture your frame divided by two horizontal lines and two vertical lines (like a tic-tac-toe board, unless you are Australian and I think you call this game X’s and O’s because obviously that’s what you would call it!) with nine equal sections. Place your subject where the lines intersect, or align key elements along the lines themselves. This creates more dynamic, balanced compositions than centering everything. The following are a couple that I thought about using for this challenge.
